MTRCB Conducts Inspection and Information Drive on Passenger Buses and Common Bus Terminals

THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) conducted an inspection and information drive on passenger buses and various bus terminals on 27-28 March 2018.

The regular inspection and information drive, led by MTRCB Chairperson Rachel Arenas, aims to increase public awareness and to ensure that buses only exhibited materials within the General Audience (“G”) or Parental Guidance (“PG”) film classification so that children on board will not be exposed to materials inappropriate for their ages. This also coincides with the anticipated volume of commuters travelling to different provinces for the Holy Week break.

There were three violations gathered at the inspection held last March 27 (Tuesday) at Araneta Bus Station and Araneta Bus Port as per the MTRCB’s Monitoring and Inspection Unit (MIU). The buses were from Ceres Transport Inc., Ceres Gold Star and Elavil all of which displaying unrated video materials. The Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive found at Elavil Bus was confiscated by the MIU and would serve as evidence of their violation. The Ceres Transport bus and the Ceres Gold Star bus also exhibited films beyond the PG rating.

For March 28 (Wednesday) the inspection continued at Florida Bus Terminal and at Victory Liner Terminal to cover more stations for the info drive and to guarantee that passengers view the version of the materials which was approved by the Agency. The said inspection was led by Chairperson Rachel Arenas with Board Member Joey Romero. No violations were found in these bus companies.

It’s important for us first time moms to connect, share our experiences and learn from each other.  Gusto kong i-share yung mga alam ko lalo na sa kusina at masaya kasing mag-try ng recipes na nag-work for other mommies.
“I really hope na maraming mommies ang sumali sa Prime Mom Club,” sabi ni Marian.

Ayon naman Marvin Tiu Lim, VP for Sales and Marketing of Mega Global Corporation, “Marian is the perfect example of a prime mom, she is family- oriented, inherently smart, always resourceful and above all, endowed with a beautiful soul.

“She knows how to juggle the demands of her chosen career and raising a loving family, attributes which she has clearly shown as a brand endorser of Mega Prime.

“As we celebrate Women’s Month, we would like to inspire mothers to emulate Marian’s example by partnering with her again as we launch the Prime Mom Club.  In doing so, we hope to be a partner of mothers as they prepare delicious, nutritious meals for their families.”

Hailing from the known Pangilinan clan in the showbiz industry, Donny Pangilinan is the eldest son of former actress Maricel Laxa and motivational speaker Anthony Pangilinan.

Donny Pangilinan first gained following through his interaction with his fans on social media. But things took a different turn after his appearance on Magandang Buhay in 2016 with his mother. That lone event spawned other guestings and other opportunities including endorsements and an offer to become a MYX VJ.

Aside from hosting, Donny also dabbled into singing which yielded two singles “Did You” and “Different kind of Love.” He is keen on unveiling his acting chops, which will happen very soon given that he has finally landed his debut film Walwal along with co-Star Magic artists Jerome Ponce and Elmo Magalona, among others and his debut soap Playhouse opposite Kisses Delavin.

Soon as she returned into the country, Yasmyne made sure to put what she has learned in the US into practice by continuing with Star Magic’s acting workshops. She was finally able to utilize what she was able to learn from all her acting classes last year when she was asked to do a stint for the horror flick Spirit of the Glass 2

But if she could have it her way, Yasmyne dreams of starring in her very own Olivia Lamasan opus a la Starting Over Again in the future.

Little did Henz know that the said blessing would change his life for good as he was among the few ones who were selected by Mr. M to sign a management contract under Star Magic.

Born in Manila, Henz pursued his education in Australia but he then moved to Japan where his mother is now based. But his mother’s desire to teach him independence led him back into the country and into Star Magic. At the moment, Henz is part of the daytime soap Sana Dalawa ang Puso and he’s also working on his first independent film for Cinemalaya Film Festival.

Filipino-German Daniela Stranner is one of the youngest members of the group who hails from Pampanga. Scouted at a music festival, Daniela, with her foreign-looks, really eyes to become a model. But fate seems to have other plans for this young football varsity player after a VTR session, which eventually led to her going face-to-face with Mr. M.

Her face may resemble many other stars in the business today, but Patty Mendoza is sure to be a persona of her own. Patty was discovered modeling in University of Santo Tomas, where she finished her degree. That lucky day eventually led to her taking part in a go-see with Mr. M.

Prior to being discovered, though, she has already taken part in a number of commercials. Now that she’s launched, Patty hopes to be able to put all that she has learned from the acting workshops into the test by taking part in a film together with her idols Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz.

Age: 20

Her venture into the industry might seem expected, what with her father, Ogie Alcasid’s innumerable contributions to the music industry and her beauty queen mother, Michelle Van Eimeren’s stint in the local tinseltown. But Leila Alcasid didn’t really see it coming when she met with Star Magic’s Mr. M. That meeting spawned the suggestion for her to undergo acting workshops that eventually endeared her to the business.

Aside from acting, Leila also excels in singing. In fact, she recently-released her first single “Completely In Love With You.” Leila hopes to be able to star in a film with her dad.

She has already made waves in the independent film scene not only locally but overseas. But Anna Luna first dipped her hands into acting as a thespian as young as 15 years old. Among her most notable projects were Paglipay by Zig Dulay and Maestra by Lemuel Lorca, which earned her a Best Actress award from the Five Continents International Film Festival in Venezuela. She has also been part of a number of Star Cinema films such as The Breakup Playlist, How to be Yours and Dear Other Self, all as a best friend of the main character.

But her most notable work of late was the award-winning film Changing Partners, which also paved the way for her to catch Mr. M’s attention. While many aspire for title films, Anna has but a simple wish now that she’s part of Star Magic Circle 2018 and that is to be able to headline her own Maalaala Mo Kaya episode.

Age: 15

Talents: acting, singing, modelling, and playing guitar and piano

Standing 5’5” Fil-Argentinian Chantal Videla started in the business as a commercial model when she was just 13-years-old. Unlike many teens her age who might be intimidated to try her luck in auditioning for Star Magic, Chantal welcomed the challenge and it did pay off for her as she got accepted into the fold.

Chantal hopes to follow the steps of her idol Liza Soberano and even have the chance to work with her in the future either in rom-com or light drama films or soap operas.

Age: 20 yrs old

Inspired by his desire to help his family and his interest in acting, mechanical engineering student Karl Gabriel signed up on Star Magic’s public acting workshop almost two years ago. Not too long, Karl auditioned for Pinoy Boyband Superstar, but unlike the others, he unfortunately didn’t make it into the live shows because as he recalls, he got too emotional during the taping.
But his stint wasn’t all for naught as he landed a role in Wansapanataym as a bully to Marco Gallo. In the long run, Karl hopes to be able to land his own title project and to work with the likes of Liza Soberano in the future.

Age: 19
Birthday: June 3
Talents: Singing and acting

It could very well be considered as a plot twist when Fil-British Markus Paterson finally caught the eyes of Mr. M after enduring four, unsuccessful go-sees with him. Originally a footballer and a music-lover, Markus then became part of ASAP Chill Out. With his hunger to unveil his musical side still burning inside him, Markus tried his luck in the reality singing competition Pinoy Boyband Superstar.

Unfortunately though, he didn’t make the cut but the show did open doors for him in the business.
Since the end of his stint on the competition, Markus has been part of a digiserye, a Wansapanataym episode and more recently the daytime serye Sana Dalawa Ang Puso.

Despite delving into acting, Markus didn’t let his musical side take the backseat as he also became a Tarsier Records artist.

Age: 21
Birthday: April 12
Talents: Acting and dancing

It may have taken quite some time for her to eventually get into Star Magic, but Charlie Dizon is convinced that the wait is all worth it. Safe to say that Charlie is really passionate about acting after juggling attending acting workshops and finishing her degree in Human Resource Management for almost two years.

Her hard work eventually paid off as Charlie became part of a number of films such as Finally Found Someone, Loving in Tandem and Seven Sundays, where she got her biggest break. Her last big screen role left an indelible mark in her psyche that Charlie hopes to be able to focus in doing comedy roles in the years to come. One of Charlie’s biggest blessings in her budding career to date, is her role in the newest fantasy soap Bagani.

Age: 22
Birthday: August 7
Talents: Acting & singing

He could very well be the poster boy of moving on what with his viral TV commercials for a local fast food giant. After that he became one of the successful products of Pinoy Boyband Superstar, despite failing to make it on the Top 5.

His exposure on the show became the stepping-stone for him to become part of the primetime soap La Luna Sangre as the lobo named Jake.

Despite his venture into acting, performing onstage has always been in Tony’s blood as the son of actor-dancer Boom Labrusca and former Kulay singer Angel Jones. He has especially showcased his singing skills through his various guestings on ASAP and through his debut single “Tanging Ikaw,” which was released last year. With his soap over, Tony is looking forward to working with veterans like Eddie Garcia in the future and to continue inspiring other showbiz hopefuls all over the country.
