ONE of the major threats posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Synthetic Media is the possibility of displacing thousands of Filipino workers belonging to the creative industries owing to the features provided by AI apps that can now produce—photos, videos, and songs.
Nathaniel “Njel” De Mesa, Vice Chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) said: “We need to have a foresight and anticipate the problem of massive displacement of works due to the advancement in artificial intelligence.”
“All of us are in agreement that this ‘Oppenheimer’ moment is inevitable and that the government should at least start the conversations on how we can help Filipino workerswho might be a ffected—especially those in the creative industries.” He added.
Due to this reason, the MTRCB conducted Pulong with the Creative industry which was attended by Artists, Production Specialists, Producers, and partners from the government on 06 July 2023, in Max’s Scout Tuazon, Quezon City.
